Waterton's Reserve Gin is inspired by the district's history.
Local and forgotten crops, the botanical gardens of Nostell, and Wakefield’s very own Victorian period Yorkshire explorer & conservationist Charles Waterton.
Their exquisite gin collection is born from a collaboration of talent from Yorkshire itself and has been contributed to by the gin-soaked team of Wakefield Beer Exchange and their gin-loving friends and patrons!
Using only the finest ingredients, good old Yorkshire water and time they love what they do.
Gin is crafted in very, very small batches by artisan gin distiller David Owens. It is distilled from a delightful and truly original recipe that the folk of Wakefield and the wider West Riding can really chirp about.
Based in Darton, between Wakefield & Barnsley.
The West Rising Classic Dry is inspired by the writings of 19th Century Yorkshire explorer & historic conservationist Charles Waterton and the journals of his South American expeditions. Crafted in very, very small batches in a traditional alembic copper pot still at the heart of Yorkshire’s Old West Riding using 9 botanicals.
It’s classic juniper and citrus notes meld well with the sweet undertones of liquorice root and provide the perfect botanical back-bone for hints of cocoa nib to appear softly in the finish.
West Riding Classic Dry drinks majestically with classic tonic water, stirred and strained in a naked martini or simply over ice. If you’re looking for a real flavour explosion, make sure you serve it with a long orange twist and a couple of fresh raspberries.
