W.L. Weller is a very old Bourbon brand dating from the late 1800s. Julian P. 'Pappy' Van Winkle began working for the original W. L. Weller whiskey company in the 1890s, and was the company president by the end of Prohibition, when Weller was merged with the Stitzel distillery company and the new Stitzel-Weller distillery was built. Now part of the Buffalo Trace's stable of incredible limited edition releases, the William Larue Weller annual releases are much sought after. Of course, the standard releases are terrific too, and much easier to get your hands on.
The Original Wheated Bourbon Whiskey features an exceptionally smooth taste, substituting wheat for rye grain. Bottled at 90 proof, this bourbon stands out with its burnt orange color. Its softer flavor notes make this bourbon great for sipping or making cocktails.
A sweet nose with a presence of caramel. Tasting notes of honey, butterscotch, and a soft woodiness. It's smooth, delicate and calm. Features a smooth finish with a sweet honeysuckle flair.
