Description

Details

The name Vesevo is the historic name for Vesuvius. The vineyards are located in the Irpinian hills of Campania, potentially one of Italy's most exciting wine producing areas. Despite being so far south, there are large differences here between day and night temperatures, making this one of the latest regions in Italy to harvest.

Vineyards
The Vesevo vineyards are situated at between 450 and 550 metres above sea level and benefit from the cool breeze blowing off the Bay of Naples. Over the centuries, this breeze has blown volcanic ash from Vesuvius inland to give the soil here a poor, volcanic character. Indeed, the name Vesevo is the old name for Vesuvius.

Vinification
After destemming and crushing, maceration took place for 10-15 days at a temperature of up to 26°C. Fermentation followed and then 10% of the wine was aged in American oak barriques and the rest in temperature controlled stainless steel for eight months.

Tasting Notes
Deep red with violet reflections. A complex and intense bouquet offers red cherries, raspberries and cranberries with notes of spice and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is dry and has firm yet smooth tannins.
