Boutinot’s love affair with the southern Rhône is both enduring and unswerving. They believe that they can make great wine here and for that reason, Boutinot bought their first vineyard in France, in the southern Rhône – in the village of Cairanne. Ten years ago, Boutinot first glimpsed the potential of the vineyards of Cairanne when they released the 2000 vintage of La Côte Sauvage. Now they have several plots of old vines they call their own and begin to realise the dream of making even better wine. Over the past decade or so Boutinot have built enviable relationships with a network of local growers and continue to source grapes and wine from their trove of prized vineyards for the full range of Rhône wines.
Vineyards lie on the craggy slopes around the historic village of Séguret, in the heartland of Southern Rhône. These terraced vineyards are planted with noble grape varieties of Syrah and Grenache.
Fully ripe Syrah and Grenache grapes were carefully chosen from selected vineyards. The wine was allowed a long cuvasion followed by 15 months ageing in French oak barrels.
A classic Rhône wine sporting structure and finesse. Intense notes of vanilla, black cherry fruit and spice on the nose, rich morello cherry and chocolate flavours on the palate.
