The eighth bottling from the Exceptional Cask series and the third bottling released in 2018 alongside Dominus and 2005, Foursquare Premise is a blend of pot and column distilled rums which was matured for ten years in total: three years in ex-bourbon casks before being transferred to ex-sherry casks where it was matured for a further seven years. It was bottled in January 2018 at 46% ABV.
NOSE: Confectionary vanilla, toasted oak and a hint of red berries initially, before a light trickle of spices and syrupy peaches emerge.
PALATE: The cask influence is more prominent on the palate, with lots of baking spice, and fortified wine notes. A hint of sharp lemon develops among more rounded notes of stone fruits and marmalade.
