This gin was created by Leeds bartending legend Jake Burger (anyone been to Jakes bar on Call Lane?) by the award-wining Notting Hill bar, Portobello Star, home of the Ginsitute. This is a place where one can learn an awful lot about gin, so you would expect Portobello Road No. 171 to be rather good, and indeed it is. It's an old-style London Dry Gin, containing traditional botanicals and spices that harks back to the gins of yesteryear.
A brand new nautical-inspired expression from the proud purveyor’s of London’s spirit.
Bottled at a punchy 57.1%, it is a mightier and more flavourful version of the 171 London Dry and has been seasoned with English sea salt. A portion of proceeds from online sales will be donated to charities supporting vital ocean welfare work. It is intense, ginny, punchy, characterful, mixable and has a distinct maritime edge to it. A gin for gin lovers, and if you like Portobello you’ll really like Portobello Navy Strength.
The gin is distilled with English-grown wheat and Portobello Road Gin’s signature recipe of nine time honoured botanicals: juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, orris root, lemon peel, liquorice root, cassia bark and nutmeg. A small amount of English sea salt is added at the end of the distillation process resulting in a subtle yet distinct flavour.
