Northern Monk Heathen IPA
A bold yet balanced New England IPA. Soft, resinous and tropical. For the Heathens.

Northern Monk is an independent brewery based in Holbeck, Leeds. The spiritual heart of the Industrial Revoloution.

Insipred by their northern surroundings and the histiory of monastic brewing practiced across the region for thousands of years, they commit themselves to creating the highest quality beers, combining the best of traditional monastic brewing values with a progressive approach to ingredients and techniques.

The brewery operates of of two brewry sites, the original brewery at the Old Flax Store where they first stared in 2014, and is also home to their LDS Tap Room. They expanded into their much larger site on Sydenham Road, also in Holbeck in April 2017.  Between the two sites they can brew up to 18 beers at a time.

Community and collaboration are at the core of their business. They regulalry collaborate with national and international breweries, businesses and charities who share their passion and values to help strengthen the North for positive change and to continually diversify their own offering.

Today in the North, they carry a torch for all that beer was, and all that beer can be. They're on a quest to create the best beer they can, giving back where they can.

Northern Monk Heathen IPA uses a simple malt base of Pale malt to take the beer up to 7.2%, then small kettle additions of US and UK hops for a soft fruity bitterness. Come dry hopping time Northern Monk go for it. 16kg of Citra spread over three additions are layered into the beer for the ultimate juicy, resinous taste experience and an aroma of tropical fruit you can smell across the room.
