Henriot Blanc de Blancs
£55.00
Sparkling, crystalline pale gold with slight green highlights. Abundant effervescence, fine and regular, with fine, delicate bubbles. Pure, concentrated and expressive, with floral (honeysuckle, orange flower, linden), fruity (lemon, dried apricot, almond) and pastry aromas, followed by spicy notes. The attack is dynamic, full and powerful, with aromas of lightly toasted brioche, quince jelly and acacia honey. The clean, delicious finish develops on a light menthol note and shows excellent length.

Description

Details

Since 1808, Champagne Henriot, one of the last independent and family-owned houses in Champagne, has pursued a tradition of excellence – a fragile balance between delicacy, intensity, and purity. For seven generations, the family has selected only the very best vineyards, concentrated on the purity of Chardonnay and has upheld the utmost respect for time in order to ensure each cuvée has an opportunity to reach its full expression.

In 1791, Nicolas Henriot settled in Reims and started a negociant business. His subsequent marriage to Apolline Godinot brought a dowry of vineyards in the Montagne de Reims. Following Nicolas’ death in 1808, the veuve Henriot founded the maison.

Henriot’s close association with Chardonnay dates back to another important wedding in 1880 when Paul married Marie Marguet, owner of vineyards in the Cotes des Blancs. Today Henriot is one of those rare family Champagne maisons, still independently owned and managed by the eponymous family continuously since its beginnings.

Joseph Henriot has maintained the commitments made by the previous generations as the head of the Maison – commitments that consist of selecting the best crus, enhancing Chardonnay’s purity and giving each cuvée time to develop fully.

Since 2008 his son Thomas Henriot has been gradually stepping into his father’s shoes, representing the seventh generation to lead the family company. He continues to preserve the House’s “historical” spirit while instilling in it a new dynamism.

The standard bearer of Champagne Henriot’s savoir-faire, Blanc de Blancs charms with astonishing length and complexity. The body is full and powerful with notes of lightly toasted brioche.
