Following the age old tradition of offering weary pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago a taste of the fresh new vintage wines, El Primero offers weary wine drinkers a taste of all that is good in modern Spain. The wines are filled with bright succulent fruit and provide an exciting journey through the best Spanish vineyards; we have a wonderfully perfumed and juicy Graciano Garnacha this year.
250 ha of vineyards are planted on clay-limestone soil at an average height of 400m above sea level. Meticulous attention to detail in the vineyards, coupled with the extreme climate, offer the perfect conditions for the production of great wines. Grapes are all hand-picked in early October. All the grapes are carefully selected and come from vineyards in Carcar. This wine is a blending of two native varieties of one of the most renowned appellations in Spain, the Ebro valley where Rioja and Navarra regions come together.
Pre-fermentative maceration cooling, pumpovers during the whole process, max. temperature of 27ºC and post-fermentative maceration of 5 days. Aged in new American and French 300l oak barrels for 8 months.
Black fruits with mocha and spices on the nose. Fresh and bright, with a perfect balance of the acidity of Graciano and the sweetness of the Garnacha.
