In 1815, Joseph Chavasse set up a liqueur distillery in Les Echelons in the Mont Blanc province of France.
Inspired by aperitifs in neighbouring Turin, Joseph created a new vermouth with ingredients sourced from the surround mountainous landscape. He infused these ingredients into Savoyard white wine and added a selection of spices.
Shortly after in 1830, he moved to nearby Chambery where his daughter, Marie Rosalie was born, who at the age of 29 married Louis Ferdinand Dolin, who joined the business and ultimately gave his name to the company that is still used to this day.
In 1919, two brothers Charles and Joseph Sevez bought the distillery as there were no Dolin heirs to inherit the business. Keeping the Dolin name, they continued to pass down the expertise from past generations.
Generous, full, intense nose of citrus peel, underscored by menthol and balsamic notes. Aromas of mountain plants linger on finish. Velvety texture with harmonious aromas of almond and fruit pit. Slightly bitter citrus base underlies and balances this elegant, lively vermouth with subtle persistence.
