Château Coutelin-Merville is an old Cru Bourgeois of Saint-Estèphe , which was classified in 1932 when the classification was created . For more than a century, it has been owned by the Estager family. Originally from Corrèze, she pushed further than the Correze diaspora who colonized the Right Bank.
In 1987, when Guy Estager died, his children took over the farm. There is Bernard, an accountant who left everything to take over the estate and continue the family tradition , not without obtaining the necessary diplomas. Then there is his brother François, who gives his unconditional support and his constant collaboration.
In the vineyards, a rigorous practice of pruning and attentive stripping is de rigueur, in a logic of reasoned yield where pesticides are banned.
Fermentation takes place sin thermo-regulated cement vats where ther temperature is maintained around 28˚C.
A gorgeous purple-red in colour. Complex aromas of red fruits, cacao, vanilla and spice. The palate is powerful and concentrated with impressive tannins leading to a lengthy finish. Altogether a complex yet harmonious and balanced red.
Perfect with oxtail stew, roast loin of lamb stuffed with kidneys, spinach, mustard and lemon or a chunk of mature Camembert.
