  2. Balgera Valtellina Superiore Sassella
    £26.99

Balgera Valtellina Superiore Sassella is an extraordinary wine that is still remarkably fresh in spite of it’s long bottle ageing. It has a beautifully expressive nose that has aromas of roses, wild strawberries and bramble fruits. Medium-bodied but with a great depth of flavour showing cherries, raspberries and strawberries with hints of hazlenut. These combine with fresh acidity making it a wine that is very useful with food. 3. The Rude Mechanicals Henners English Summer Gin
    £39.99

The vines at Henners English sparkling vineyard in East Sussex burst from bud to bloom on the first day of a certain British lawn tennis tournament every year. Without fail. They decided this was Mother Nature giving them a nudge firmly in the direction of a small batch ‘strawberries & cream’ inspired gin. The plumpest, sweetest Kentish strawberries were selected to distil along with earl grey tea (smoky, sweet, bergamot), hedgerow nettle (herbaceous, verdant, mineral), and a handful of macadamia nuts (buttery, rich, cream).

Light summer flavours with hints of earl grey and strawberry with a rich mouthfeel.

Serve with a tonic of your choice (simple is best in our book), a twist of lemon, sliver of strawberry & a leaf of sweet basil.

  15. Thistledown 'She's Electric' Old Vine Grenache
    £29.50

Wines always taste better when there is a good story behind it and She's Electric is no exception. In the vineyard where the grapes are sourced from is an overhead power cable...It turns out that there had been a power cut and during the outage some birds perched on the line. As the electricity surged through the line again, a combustible bird fell to the ground and set light to the vineyard, destroying half of the original vines and in one fell swoop made a scarce resource even scarcer. The world's first avaian vine selection programme! Thankfully half of the vines survived and the fruit used is from the older part of the vineyard.

The aromatic, perfumed aromas on the nose lead through to a delicate yet vibrant palate of spiced wild strawberry fruit, violets and cinnamon. Textured, enticing and delicious.
