Whisky production in South Africa dates to the 19th century, but only now are there signs of a true regional style beginning to emerge.

Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky, produced by drinks giant Distell at the James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington, is a single grain of undoubted quality, while the company’s Three Ships range is also winning increasing renown.

Bain's is the first South African single grain whisky, made in Wellington at the James Sedgwick distillery. Bain's has made an impressive debut in the UK, picking up a Gold Medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2010 and a Silver at the International Spirits Competition before crowning that with the title of World's Best Grain Whisky at the World Whisky Awards.

Bain’s Single Grain Whisky is a double matured whisky produced from 100% South African Yellow corn. It is first matured in specially selected first-fill bourbon casks for a period of three years, the whisky is then transfer it to a second set of first-fill bourbon casks for a further 18 to 30 months to extract a full rich flavour like no other.
